Dawlyn: The Hate U Give By Angie Thomas I loooved this book so much! Check out our spoilery and spoiler free reviews of this book!

The Book Thief

Krista: The Book Thief By: Markus Zusak. A week ago I would have answered the same as Dawlyn. I love The Hate U Give SOOO much, and it is one of my favorite books of all time. However, I just finished The Book Thief and it completely ruined me in the best way! This is now my all time favorite book!

  1. Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2017.

Breakable

Dawlyn: Breakable By: Tammarra Webber This book isn’t technically a sequel. It is the second book in a new adult companion series and it is actually the same story as the first book but in the man’s POV. I really enjoyed this book and reading this story from this MC’s perspective.

forgotten

Krista: The only sequel I have read this year is The Forgotten By: J.A. Templeton. I enjoyed it, but not as much as the first book.

  1. New release you haven’t read yet, but want to.

New Release Antic 2017

Dawlyn: I can’t pick one so here’s a list

Once and for All By: Sarah Dessen

Flame in the Mist By: Renee Ahdieh

When Dimple Met Rishi By: Sandyah Menon

The Upside of Unrequited By: Becky Albertalli

Once and for All

Krista: Once and for All By: Sarah Dessen. I love Sarah Dessen so much, and cannot wait to read this book!

  1. Most anticipated release for the second half of the year.

Wonder Woman

Dawlyn: Wonder Woman Warbringer By: Leigh Bardugo. I saw the movie recently and absolutely loved it! It’s all kinds of amazing and I’m willing to bet this book is going to be amazing too!

theres someone

Krista: There’s Someone Inside Your House By: Stephanie Perkins. I cannot tell you how hype I am for this book! Scream meets YA?! Come on September… I need this now!!

  1. Biggest disappointment.

The F it List

Dawlyn: The F-it LIst By: Julie Halpern I didn’t have any expectations going into this book, so it wasn’t exactly disappointing, but I definitely didn’t like it and I DNFd it about 100 pages in.

tigers curse

Krista: Tigers Curse By: Colleen Houck. This book sounded really interesting (and it was) but I found the main character problematic and annoying.

  1. Biggest surprise.

We Were Liars

Dawlyn: We Were Liars  By: E. Lockhart. I wasn’t surprised that I liked this book but I definitely didn’t see the twist coming. I wasn’t ready.

matched

Krista: Matched By: Ally Condie. I had heard that a lot of people didn’t like this book, so I went into it with low expectations. However, I really enjoyed the story, and will definitely be continuing the series!

  1. Favourite new author. (Debut or new to you)

Angie Thomas

Dawlyn: Angie Thomas. Beautiful. Human. Creature.

authors

Krista: I have to agree with Dawlyn on this! Angie Thomas is everything beautiful in this world!! BUT a close second would be the amazing Nicola Yoon!! AND Sandhya Menon!! AND Erin Summerill!! Ok i’m done! There’s just so many amazingly, beautiful and talented authors that are near to my heart!

  1. Newest favourite character.

Cath

Dawlyn: Cath from Fangirl by: Rainbow Rowell.

Krista: Agree 100% Cath from Fangirl is my spirit animal!

  3. I think I’m going to have to do this tag now. For some of the questions I’m probably going to have a difficult time choosing; I’ve read so many great books so far this year.

    1. Oh, and Krista…I actually won an ARC of Stephanie Perkins’ “There’s Someone Inside Your House” and it’s not a book I’m planning on reading. If you would be interested, I’d be okay with mailing it to you.

      1. No problem! I won it as part of a box of 5 books while at BookExpo, and I was only really after 3 of those books. If you want to send me a DM on Twitter or Instagram, or e-mail me at danielle.thamasa@yahoo.com, then I can get it in the mail for you.
