ROLLING EYES EMOJI

Krista: Tiger’s Curse By: Colleen Houck. I read this book at the beginning of the year, and found it to have problematic aspects. I also thought the main character was really immature and annoying.

Dawlyn: I’ll Give You the Sun By: Janis Nelson I was so blown away by this book and it really took me by surprise! I love it soo much!

BLUSHING EMOJI

Krista: Lola and the Boy Next Door By: Stephanie Perkins. I have a major crush on Cricket Bell, so I guess he would make me blush.

Dawlyn: Isla and the Happily Ever After By: Stephanie Perkins! Josh is BAE!

COOL EMOJI

Krista: Illuminae By: Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. This book is pretty cool. The way it is written is cool, the setting is pretty cool, a lot of crazy stuff happens, and Kady Grant is pretty BA.

Dawlyn: Cinder By: Marissa Meyer. The world in this book is like nothing I’ve ever read before! It is so unique and creative.

super angry emoji

SUPER ANGRY EMOJI

Krista: Carve the Mark By: Veronica Roth. I have not read this book myself, and do not plan on reading it! I have read enough about this book to decide for myself that it is extremely problematic. I know that I have not read the book, however, I have read many reviews that point out the racist aspects of this book, as well as the harmful depiction/representation of chronic pain. If you are interested in reading more about this you can click here.

Dawlyn: To Kill a Mockingbird By: Harper Lee. This is one of my favorite books so the book itself didn’t make me angry just some of the plot points and the actions of certain characters.

astonished emoji

ASTONISHED EMOJI

Krista: Once and for All By: Sarah Dessen. I haven’t gotten very far into this book, but I am pretty astonished! I have been reading Sarah Dresden books since I was 12, and she has been one of my favorite authors ever since. I picked up this book expecting to definitely enjoy it, but pretty early on I have noticed problematic aspects with the way she describes characters of color versus the was she describes white characters. This made me put the book down for now, and I am both astonished and disappointed.

Dawlyn: We Were Liars  By: E. Lockhart. I wasn’t ready for the twist in this book but it definitely blew me away!

laughing emoji

LAUGHING HARD EMOJI

Krista: Fangirl By: Rainbow Rowell. Cath made me laugh pretty hard. She is hilarious, and I could relate to her so much which made it funnier for me.

Dawlyn: I’ve Got Your Number By: Sophie Kinsella

crying emoji

CRY HARD EMOJI

Krista: Definitely The Book Thief By: Markus Zusak. I cried like a baby!

Dawlyn: Same as Krista

SMILING EYES EMOJI

Krista: I’ll Give You the Sun By: Janis Nelson. This book definitely made me and my eyes smile. It’s so good!!

Dawlyn: Fangirl By: Rainbow Rowell. This book had me all smiles because of how relateable it was for me!

emotionless emoji

EMOTIONLESS EMOJI

Krista: The Tome Traveler’s Wife By: Audrey Niffenegger. I’ve mentioned this a few times before. I did not care for this book, I found it boring, it just wasn’t for me.

Dawlyn: I really can’t think of a book where I felt nothing. Even if I couldn’t get into a book it was because I felt something. I guess if I had to pick one I’ll go with the F-It List again.

heart eyes

HEART EYES EMOJI

Krista: The Hate U Give By: Angie Thomas. I love this book!! It is so good! Not only is it about an extremely important topic, but it’s also written so well, and has such an amazing family dynamic! Love love love this novel!

Dawlyn: I’ll Give You the Sun By: Janis Nelson I was so blown away by this book and it really took me by surprise! I love it soo much!
