Apples

Ah, healthy food. It’s deep, meaningful, and probably won a lot of awards, but, um, isn’t really your thing.

Rye_catcher

Dawyln: I’ll go with The Catcher in the Rye by: J.D. Salinger. This is a classic that is commonly required reading and was for me in high school. I wasn’t feeling this one when I read it, though I’d like to reread it to see how I feel about it now.

Krista: A book that’s well appreciated that just wasn’t for me is Gone Girl by: Gillian Flynn. I think the story is really interesting, and I enjoyed the movie. However, I tried to read the book and just couldn’t get into it. It wasn’t for me at the time. Maybe I would feel differently about it now, who knows?

Milk Chocolate

This is a book you’d recommend to absolutely everyone.

Dawlyn: There are so many that I could go with for this one but I’ll pick a recent read: The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-TIme Indian by: Sherman Alexie. I feel like anyone could take something away from this story.

Spoiler Free Review of The Hate U Give by: Angie Thomas

Krista: I’m going to go with The Hate U Give by: Angie Thomas. I know we talk about this book a lot on our blog, but that’s because it’s just so hard not to! This book is amazing! It’s such an important read, and I just genuinely believe everyone should read this book.

Black Jellybeans

Why do these exist?

Dawlyn: The F It List by: Julie Halpern. I really did not like this book at all.

tigers curse

Krista: Tiger’s Curse by: Colleen Houck. I read this book at the beginning of the year. I think the writing was pretty well done and there were some cool aspects about the story. However, I have serious issues with the main character and think that the whole concept of her being the MC for this story is extremely problematic. For that reason, I’m just kind of like, why is this book a thing?

Chocolate Kisses

Awwww, this novel had the best romance!

Dawlyn: Isla and Josh from Isla and the Happily Ever After by: Stephanie Perkins. They’re my favorite couple in this series!

dimple

Krista: When Dimple Met Rishi by: Sandhya Menon. I love these two, they are so adorable!

Gummy Spiders

Eeek! You made sure to check under the bed every night for a week after reading this scary one.

Dawlyn: The Shining by: Stephen King. This is the only horror book I’ve attempted reading and though II never actually finished it, I would like to! What I did read, I remember enjoying what i did read, and I liked the movie. I don’t typically like or feel scared by horror movies, so I wouldn’t say I was scared by the book or the movie but it was definitely suspenseful.

theres someone

Krista: There’s Someone Inside Your House by: Stephanie Perkins. This book wasn’t horribly scary, but it was definitely creepy. It gave me major Scream vibes, which I loved!

lollipop.3

Jumbo Lolipop

This took you forever to get through, but hey! You did it!

77013

Dawlyn: As I Lay Dying by: William Faulkner. This was required summer reading for me in high school. I didn’t hate it, but i didn’t love it and it took me all summer to get through.

a court of thorns and roses

Krista: A Court of Thorns and Roses by: Sarah J. Mass. This book took me awhile to get through. I did really enjoy it, but I don’t think I loved it quite as much as everyone else seems to. I’m definitely going to continue on with the series!

Cotton candy isolated

Cotton Candy

Admit it, you loved this when you were younger (you probably still do).

Twilightbook

Dawlyn: Twilight by: Stephenie Meyer. I now have many problems with this series, but I’m not ashamed to admit that I was OBSESSED with it in middle and high school.

Krista: I agree with Dawlyn! I was definitely obsessed with Twilight and it helped me get back into reading after a bit of a slump!

  1. That’s such a sweet TAG ❤ I thought about books which took a loooong time for me to finish – and I would go with Acacia I – it took me three month to get through it. The scariest book I've ever read was actually a Stephen King novel. A really short one. Riding the Bullet only let me sleep with the lights on, although nothing really happened. But the atmosphere creeped me out.

  2. Lovely answers for the prompts, Krista and Dawlyn.

Let’s see…a book I recommend to everyone: Colorworld by Rachel E Kelly. Why does this even exist? Fifty Shades of Grey. Took forever to get through: Leviathan Wakes by James S.A. Corey.
