Dog Days of Summer (Best Book Set in Summer)

Hey Bookworms! We’re so excited because after a long hiatus,  Calendar Girls Books is back! In case you don’t know what this is, it is an event that takes place on the first Monday of every month. Each month, the creators chose a theme and you pick a book that fits this theme! This event was formerly hosted by, Flavia  @FlaviatheBibliophile and Melanie @MNBernard Books. The event is now hosted by Katie @NeverNotReading and Adrienne @DarqueDreamerReads. Head over to their blogs to find out more! We’re so excited to be participating in this discussion! This month’s theme is: Dog Days of Summer (Favorite Book Set in Summer). Let’s get started!

Most of the books we have read that are set in summer are contemporary and our pick is no different! Before we tell you our choice though, here are some honorable mentions:

Now for our pick…

The Unexpected Everything by: Morgan Matson. We both read this last year and absolutely loved it! It was a top ten read of the year for both of us. This book is a fun summer read with a cute but sometimes, complicated romance. Outside of the romance, this book featured plotlines of friendship, family, and adjusting to unexpected life changes. If you couldn’t tell by  the cover, this book is a great read for dog lovers as well! If you’re looking for a contemporary with a good balance of light and serious, this is definitely the book for you and we highly recommend it!

Thanks so much for taking the time out to read our post! We’re so happy to be participating in the Calendar GIrls event and we look forward to hearing from others who are participating in it as well. Let us know if you’ve read this book and feel free to share links to your August Calendar Girls!

      1. Yes, 2 others picked it. So that means its a must read for me, haha. I have the master list of all the participants so far on my blog post 🙂 I have been trying to make sure I haven’t missed anyone, but WordPress isn’t giving me all the pingback notifications.
